About The Main Applications Of MCE Syringe Filter

Today, we will focus on the MCE syringe filter, which refers to the filter membrane made of refined nitrocellulose, adding appropriate amount of cellulose acetate, acetone, n-butanol, ethanol, etc. It is hydrophilic, non-toxic and hygienic. It is a porous membrane filter material. The pore size distribution is relatively uniform penetrating micropores with a microporosity of up to 80‰. The mixed cellulose ester(MCE) syringe filter is mainly used for the filtration of water-based solutions, so it is also called water-based membrane. The MCE syringe filter is flammable and should be sealed, moisture-proof and fire-proof when stored.

MCE syringe filter main applications

The MCE syringe filter has good hydrophilicity, high porosity and high filtration speed, and is mainly used for: 1) sterilization and particle removal in laboratory and small-scale processes; 2) culture sterilization and filtration of base and culture solution; 3) Determination of bacterial flora in water. To be more specific:

1. For the pharmaceutical industry that needs autoclaving, water injection, large infusion, extraction of traditional Chinese medicine, and beverage filtration to remove particulates can improve the intrinsic quality of the drug and the pass rate of brightness, and remove heat-sensitive drugs (insulin ATP, coenzyme A and other biochemical preparations). Use a 0.45-micron syringe filter (or 0.3-micron, 0.2-micron filter) to test for sterility by the membrane method of antibiotics.

2. Medicine and hygiene, the detection of C-AMP, C-GMP and bloodworms in human body fluids by the film method, and the detection of Escherichia coli in drinking water, surface water and well water.

3. Analysis and determination of particles and oil insolubles in solution, and determination of water pollution index.

4. It is used in scientific research departments such as somatic hybridization and mitochondrial complementation prediction of heterosis research.

5. Fine filtration of high-purity water in the electronics industry, etc.

Use notes of MCE syringe filter

1. It must be used with disposable syringes and glass syringes. The interface is standard. First put the syringe filter on the syringe, then pour the liquid into the syringe, press the push rod down, and collect the filtered.
2. Do not use a syringe smaller than 10 cc, as the small volume of the column may cause the pressure to exceed the upper limit, resulting in membrane damage.
3. For laboratory use only, single use, non-renewable.
4. A portion of the filtrate at the beginning should be discarded, the volume is about the dead volume of the filter, taking 25 mm as an example, the first 1 mL of filtrate should be discarded; or the filter should be pre-washed with 1 to 2 mL of the solution.
5. When using the MCE syringe filter, keep the membrane wet. Due to due to disinfection, it becomes dry and then must use sterile water to wet it. If the wetting is not good, the flow rate must be affected. , and then carry out sterilization filtration in a sterile room, which should be carried out in strict accordance with the sterilization operation procedures, using filter membranes with nominal pore sizes of 0.45 microns, 0.3 microns, and 0.2 microns.
6. When the filtrate is below 0.025 micron, it is not suitable to use syringe filtration. It only has adsorption effect on the heat source virus and cannot be completely removed.
