A hydrophilic PVDF filter is used for filtering aqueous solutions and some organic solvents. It's commonly used in applications where the filtered solution needs to be recovered, such as in protein purification or DNA extraction. A hydrophilic PVDF filter is also used in some analytical techniques, such as HPLC and GC, to remove particulate matter from samples.
PVDF syringe filters can be classified into two types based on their membrane surface characteristics: hydrophobic and hydrophilic.
Hydrophobic PVDF syringe filter repel water and are useful for filtering gases and non-aqueous liquids. Hydrophilic PVDF syringe filter attract water and is suitable for filtering aqueous solutions and some organic solvents.
